==== Crossfire 0.95.8 ==== SuSE 7.0 More details and screenshots [[user:draugthewhopper:oldversions:cfclient.0.95.8|here]]. ==== Crossfire 0.93.5 ==== Release notes: https://crossfire.real-time.com/download/0935release.html found as crosfire.spm\crosfire-0.93.5-15.src.cpio in http://ftp5.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/5.3/i386.de/suse/zq1/ Packaged as part of SuSE 5.3. Packaged as part of Suse 6.2. Package name is "crosfire". Reports version of 0.93.5, Release 68. Build date is July 22, 1999. Source RPM is crosfire-0.93.5-68.src.rpm. The manpage may be out of date, as it reports version 0.93.1. This version has network support, but by default launches a gui window directly. Commandline flags can be used to control server behavior, notably "-server". This version defaults to using XBM monochrome graphics, with colored tint. In XBM mode, only one image can render on a tile at a time, since there is no transparency. using the commandline flag "-xpm" will make it use color XPM graphics, though it may be slow to load (takes several seconds on a 66mhz CPU) A few gameplay notes: * This version does not appear to have pupland at all. The dragon area of Scorn's port has no usable dragons. * Scorn is missing the Street of the Gods, instead a few temples are sprinkled around the city. Goth's tavern is in the Port area. What would become the Scorn palace is a closed stronghold. * Food consumption must be managed, as it will easily kill you if you go AFK. * While there are individual skills, they are grouped into "experience categories" for accruing levels. For example, gaining a level in "physique" will affect melee weapons, missile weapons, and throwing. Other categories include "agility" (disarm traps), "personality" (oratory), "mental" (find traps, literacy), and "misc." (use magic item). * Races and classes are not really separated. When creating a character, you can choose things like warrior, human, fireborn, mage, etc. * Different weapons do have different attack speed, but they don't state the speed when exmaining the weapon. Still, it's usually more efficient to have a harder hitting weapon, even if it's a bit slower. * At Str 20, the player begins to lose speed while holding about 300kg of items. * Shops do not specialize, you can sell your loot anywhere. * Altars, even those in churches that should be associated with a specific deity, have been assigned another deity seemingly at random. It's not clear if this is a bug in this release, or in the build tested (Suse 6.2) * Darcap is on its own small continent, called "Dtabb land", along with the fire volcano and some other maps * Wolfsburg and its tropical island is accessible from Scorn by ship * Since there is no permanent exp, dying repeatedly can be very punishing, especially if you cannot afford or find potions of restoration (now called potions of life) ==== Crossfire 0.92.6 (Sept 1996)==== http://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/games/dungeon/crossfire/ ==== Crossfire 0.90.3 (1994) ==== Discussion regarding difficulty: http://archives.tclug.org/rte-crossfire/1994/Aug/msg00038.html ==== Crossfire 0.90.1 ==== Passing reference in list of games: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rec.games.roguelike.announce/yXIci_KfFOU Links appear dead. ==== Crossfire 0.89.2 (March 1993) ==== A version modified for NeXTSTEP: http://ftp.martnet.com/NeXt/X11/client/games/ ==== Crossfire 0.8? ==== Unknown docs: https://metacpan.org/release/MLEHMANN/Crossfire-0.8 Somehow related to Schmorp and Elmex ==== Crossfire 0.10 (Feb 1992) ==== http://crossfire.real-time.com/download/archive/historic/ ==== Crossfire 0.01 (no date) ==== When CF was still a gauntlet clone, no networking. http://crossfire.real-time.com/download/archive/historic/
